Dear fellow ISS students

Sadly, one of our current Mtech KE 20 student Ms Sandar Phyo Wai has been diagnosed with colon cancer which has spread to her spinal cord and causing damage to 2 of the vertebrates.  Currently, her right leg is paralyzed. Her prognosis is serious. She was admitted on Saturday to NUH and doctors are now deciding how best to treat her.

Yesterday, I met her cousin who expressed concerns about her missing the exams and the inevitable financial strain. Sandar is 28yrs old and have a cousin and brother in Singapore. Her parents have passed away.  A group of us students are taking turns at the hospital to keep her company.

On behalf of her family, I am appealing to all staff & students to help her with the medical costs since the NUS medical insurance covers only the hospitilisation and not the more expensive surgery procedures. The estimated bill up to today is $35,000.

You can donate by sending a cheque payable to "Ms. Sandar Phyo Wai" and mail it to the ISS address.

Thank you for your concerns and generosity.

Regards
Kyaw Htut Lin (KE 20)

Dear All friends,

On behalf of Sandar, thank you so much for all of your contribution.

This is the latest condition of Sandar.

(1) Cancer cells are spread already to liver and rectal colon.
(2) Back Bone operation was not completely removed all tumors.
(3) So, now Doctors decided to cure by two ways,  radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

(4) For Radiotherapy, the estimated cost is S$7000.

(5) For chemotherapy, there are two options.
First option, Singapore Cancer Research team ask Sandar to test her cancer cells for their experiment.  If that meets their experiments, they will sponsor for chemotherapy.
If not, Sandar will do that by herself.

(6)For implant of back bone, it costs over S$15000.All other charges for hospital fees , operation fees and consultation fees are S$ 38000 till now.( We got medical insurance  S$30000)

Thanks and Best Regards
May Thet Zan

P.s : Now we are collecting donation by Sandar's Own Account.
